The City of Canning is engaging with the Queens Park community to create a new design concept for Godfrey Park, with the view to completing an upgrade of the park in 2023-2024. Godfrey Park is very close to Queens Park Primary School, and we would love to hear your feedback! There is also a Child Health Clinic on the side of the site.
Playgrounds are important. They can assist in developing a child’s strength, coordination and balance as well as other qualities such as social skills, imagination, creativity and problem-solving.
We are committed to providing playgrounds that offer a high quality play experience for local kids.
Please provide your thoughts on Godfrey Park by completing the survey here: https://culturecounts.cc/s/4JPnzu
We will also be holding a community picnic in late February 2023 to discuss more options for the Park design- please leave your email address in the survey so we can send more information end of January.
Your feedback is important to us.

Play Streets Success!
Share Play Streets Success! on Facebook Share Play Streets Success! on Twitter Share Play Streets Success! on Linkedin Email Play Streets Success! linkSix Play Streets were held successfully over Cross Street and Blacksmith Street during October 2022. The Play Streets attracted 120 adults and 155 kids from the Queens Park Neighbourhood. The events demonstrated the generosity of the groups hosting the events, Little Learners Playgroup and Baris Education and Culture, kindness of neighbours, neighbours meeting each other for the first time, children playing on their streets in a safe way for the first time and a huge interest for more Play Streets across the City.
The City is currently investigating ways to create some community friendly avenues of support, where we can create a foundation to encourage further neighbourhood events across the City,

Lets Get Gibbsical
Share Lets Get Gibbsical on Facebook Share Lets Get Gibbsical on Twitter Share Lets Get Gibbsical on Linkedin Email Lets Get Gibbsical linkGibbs Street was identified as a key route in the City’s Cycling and Walking Plan, and is the artery connecting important local destinations within the area, including open spaces, education, transport hubs, and the future State Football Centre. In partnership with the Department of Transport, the City has worked to make Gibbs Street an attractive environment for people of all ages to walk and ride safely to local destinations.
Together, we have created a quieter, more connected, greener, welcoming and safer street, delivering on the community’s vision for Gibbs Street.
The involvement of the local community has been a central feature of this project and continuing to nurture this ownership is a priority to support the new use of the street. We know that by changing the street we change how people feel about it; but to change the relationship people have to the street and encourage more cycling and walking we need to activate it!
The Wanju Welcome Queens Park team is excited to support the ongoing activation of the street but to get started please join us and Let’s Get Gibbsical!

Home made lemonade was provided as an example of activity ideas residents could host on their own driveway during the Play Streets. Even during this meeting, residents who didn’t know each other were meeting and finding common ground with each other. The residents are very excited for the upcoming Play Streets and were coming up with their own ideas on how they’d like to be involved.
