Pitch it to us!

The City of Canning has $10,000 for small place improvements, events or fun activities and we want to hear ideas from residents who live, work and play in these great neighbourhoods! The Neighbourhood and Engagement team will work with you to refine your idea and make it “pitch ready.”

(If you're stuck some ideas... you could host a really awesome Play Street on your very own street, community lunch or dinner, mini community garden in an unused space, more planting in a space you think needs improvement. Your imagination is the limit..within the budget!)

Enjoy dinner on us (halal and vegetarian friendly options available) and games on the veranda before heading indoors to hear the pitches.

Everyone attending will get to vote on their favourite idea, with the two winning pitches taking home funding to help bring their idea to life.

Football fever hits Canning with free clinics for kids

The world game is coming to Perth and the City of Canning is inviting its residents to celebrate with a series of free community football (soccer) clinics for local kids.

The City has partnered with Football West to run two clinics in May and June: the Girl’s Day Out (27 May) and Kick it Skills Community Clinic (10 June).

The Girl’s Day Out is a fun morning of football aimed at girls and young women from ages 8-16. Members of the Perth Glory women’s team will be there to help players learn the basics or hone their skills.

The Kick it Skills Community Clinic is for girls and boys from 4-14 and will help young players learn individual and team skills and put this into practise with a game at the end.

A further two free casual soccer games (no registration required) will be run by Football Futures for 10 to 17-year-olds on Thursday 8 June at East Cannington Reserve and Thursday 15 June at Queens PARK Reserve, both from 3.30pm to 5pm.

Please join us to help paint a Turkish and local flora inspired mural at the back of the Canning Mosque. Find us in the walkway behind Hartfield Park, between Hartfield Street and Treasure Rd.

Join us to celebrate Cùram Early Learning School’s 5th birthday and the end of Ramadan with a range of interactive activities, stalls, Turkish sweets and finger food along Hartfield Street.

Artist Mel McVee will be creating a Turkish inspired community mural and you’re invited to pick up a brush and make your mark.

We're calling local Seniors and kindy-aged children to participate in fun art workshops to help build confidence and resilience skills!

'Driving Connections' is an art and play program that will build children’s confidence and skills to keep trying when things get hard. The program will do this by bringing together seniors who have valuable life experience to share with parents and kindy-aged children.
