Consultation has concluded
The City of Canning is committed to transforming Willetton Sports Precinct into a space that is multi-purpose, innovative, sensitive to the environment and provides the community with an attractive space to recreate and relax in.
In conjunction with the expertise of skate park design firm, Skate Sculpture, we have developed a concept for a new integrated skate plaza within the Willetton Sports Precinct and we want the community’s feedback.
The concept for the skate plaza is proposing:
Building a new fully integrated skate plaza, pedestrian hub and active laneway
A suitable space for skateboarders, scooters and BMX/bike riders and pedestrians
Blending passive spaces with active spaces into an integrated and pedestrian-friendly space
Incorporating street inspired skate objects including ledges, stairs, hand rails, curbs and street banks with a series of garden beds, trees and outdoor furniture to be used by skateboarders, bike/BMX and scooter riders
Please have a look at our concept and complete a survey (see below) to help shape the final skate plaza concept by 16 March.
You can also view the concept and provide feedback in person at one of the following sessions:
A free skateboarding clinic and jam session on 5 March from 6pm – 8pm*
A free scooter clinic and jam session on 10 March from 4pm – 6pm**
Feedback from these event and the survey will be used to help us develop a final concept, which will then be presented at the Willetton leg of the King of the Hill Series on 21 March from 9am – 6pm at Willetton Skate Park. Your feedback will also be used by the City to plan for the future skate parks in Canning.
