What is happening?
Willeri Park, Parkwood will be trialled as a dog exercise area from 5 September 2019 to 31 January 2020.
What does this mean?
Dog exercise areas are public spaces where people can exercise their dogs off leash. People with dogs must supervise and have control of their dogs at all times, and carry and be capable of attaching a suitable leash. As always, people must clean up after their dogs.
What are we seeking?
The City is seeking comment from residents and park users from now until 5 November 2019 via the comment box or quick poll below.
However, due to a requirement for a 28 day advertising period, dogs cannot be off leash in Willeri Park until 5 September.
What happens next?
Community feedback will be reported to Council in December to help determine if Willeri Park will continue to be a dog exercise area after 31 January 2020.
Please note:
The fencing will not be upgraded at this time and dogs could possibly escape through, or under the fence. People who choose to take their dogs to this park must supervise and have effective control over their dogs at all times.
As this is a trial, only a rubbish bin, dog bags and signage will be installed near the pedestrian gate entrance in Vellgrove Avenue, near Young Lane.
There is no fresh water at the park, so you might want to take some water and a drinking bowl for your dog, and some old towels, as the site can be wet and muddy at times.
