Wyong Park upgrade underway!
Construction of the $1.5 million redevelopment of Wyong Park has kicked off this week.
The upgrade has many exciting features such as a new multi-sports court, a new playground with some nature play elements, new shelter, BBQ, seating and outdoor exercise equipment. Other essential improvements include new pathways, lighting and garden beds with a mixture of local and native plant species.
In addition to the $1.5 million redevelopment, the City will conduct ancillary works worth over $830,000, including installation of water sensitive urban design elements such as rain gardens in the car park. Under the ancillary works package, the active sporting space will benefit from upgraded irrigation systems and, to enable families to safely access nearby Bentley Primary School, a new pedestrian crossing between the park and school will be installed.
The City will also contribute further funds towards a new practice wicket for the Bentley Cricket Club. Bentley Primary School students will produce artwork for installation at the new playground, with local artist Jade Dolman brightening up the hard court and footpaths with her own creative pieces.
During the construction period, please note the following:
- The oval will remain open to the public for the duration of the works
- some parts of the main car park will be unavailable
- all works will be carried out on weekdays, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm
- construction fencing will be erected around sections of the park and members of the public will not be permitted
- pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to be redirected from time to time during the construction to ensure safety of the public around the site; and
- measures will be put in place to control dust and noise as much as possible during construction.
