What is a shared path?

It is a path shared by people who ride or walk, and part of a wider network plan to cater for commuters, and people who ride and/or walk for leisure.

How is this project being funded?

The project has been jointly funded and delivered by the City and State Government through the Department of Transport's Western Australian Bicycle Network Grants Program.

What is WA Bicycle Networks Grants Program

The WA Bicycle Network (WABN) Grants Program is a State Government initiative that provides funding to local governments to deliver active transport infrastructure that supports more people to walk, wheel and ride as part of their everyday journeys.

When is construction planned to commence and how long will it take?

This project is tentatively proposed to commence in late November of 2024 and to be completed by December 2024.

    What happens next?

Following conclusion of the consultation period, the City will review and summarise the feedback. Feedback in relation to the design of this project will be considered and determined if modifications are required and/or technically possible. The City will write to you and respond to any enquiries you may have.

Will I have access to my property during construction?

Yes, the City will maintain access to your property throughout the delivery and construction of these works, unless specifically advised or suitably notified otherwise. Although access will be maintained, localized traffic management will be in place to maintain a safe work area and for the protection of road users including pedestrians and cyclists.

How can I ask questions about the project?

    • Ask us a question and we’ll either answer on the project page, or we’ll email you directly.
    • Contact the City's Officer Mr. Gerson Bermudez – Traffic and Transport Engineer by phone 0481 452 039 or via email on traffic@canning.wa.gov.au.

Can I expect any noise and disruptions during the works?

Work will be carried out within the normal working hours of 7am and 6pm on weekdays, as to reduce noise impacts out of hours. We understand this work may be disruptive to the local community and some traffic delays may be experienced. However, we are committed to working with stakeholders to minimise the disruptions as much as possible and we will aim to complete the works as quickly as possible, however weather conditions, contractor availability or other unforeseen circumstances may delay the works.

How will this project impact my property?

As the works will include upgrades to the existing footpath and existing kerbs, reconstruction of some access driveways will be necessary to match into this infrastructure. Existing verge treatments disturbed by these works will be reinstated to the City’s standards and administrative policies.
