Expression of Interest: Artist training opportunity
The City of Canning is seeking expressions of interest from local Aboriginal run groups or corporations, with particular focus on local arts groups, to learn the skills of exhibition curation and how to hang artworks. This training will be free for participants open to Aboriginal groups running within City of Canning, or close to the area with strong ties to the Canning community.
The training will be run by Professional Arts Management (PAM), who have worked with Indigenous arts workers and communities for many years to deliver professional development opportunities.
There will be huge benefits for participants to this training, including but not limited to:
- Learning the basic skills of curating an exhibition
- Learning how to hang artworks professionally
- Learning how to hang a full exhibition
- Learning how to produce didactic panels for an art exhibition
- Acquiring these skills for personal/professional use ie organising your own exhibitions
- Invitation from the City of Canning to be contracted to assist with the curation and hanging of future exhibitions including the annual NAIDOC Art Exhibition
Training on offer
The training will be over four days- two days in PAM’s Fremantle warehouse and two days at the Riverton Library installing the NAIDOC Art Exhibition 2024. Participants must be able to attend all days to gain the full benefit of the training.
