Dragon Boating Experience on Canning River

Saturday 9 March City of canning had the opportunity to come together with the Cultural Ambassadors and celebrate 15 cultures from around the world. The day commenced with Noongar Elder Uncle Len Yarran performing a welcome to country followed by a traditional smoking ceremony and Kep (water) ceremony. Uncle Len then spent time yarning about Noongar culture, reconciliation and how every culture can learn from each other.

Cultural ambassadors and family members then took part in a team building session as one of our Cultural Ambassadors is part of Chinese Dragon Boating Club. Participants were able to paddle along the banks of Djarlgarro Beelier and enjoy the natural environment.
