How can we transform Canning's average "spaces" into lively "places" ?

Loved the Mid-Week Eats? Wish there were more places to eat, drink and be entertained locally? Have you wondered how the City could be more vibrant, creative, colourful and fun? The City of Canning is on a journey to work with the community to transform the City’s average "spaces" into lively "places". We need your help!

Place making is one way that the City can work together with community to help achieve the aspirations in the Strategic Community Plan 2017-2027. Place making includes social fabric (i.e. events, festivals, popups) and hard infrastructure (i.e. public art, street furniture and landscape).

The ideas of our residents and community members will shape the City Activation Plan which will go to Council for endorsement later in 2018.

"What attracts people most, it would appear, is other people." William H. White

How to get Involved

Online

Here you can share your thoughts by completing a quick survey here, or identifying places you love and place to activate here.

Place Assessment

The City is will be doing some targeted place assessments using Place Score to identify what contributes positively and negatively to a place experience. That way, we can understand what we can change. See the FAQs for which places they are and why they were chosen. You can complete a places assessment online here or look out for surveyors in these areas from 24 April 2018.

These are just a start, if you have more places in mind please share your thoughts by identifying places you love and place to activate here.

If you require any further information please see the FAQ's. If you require more information, contact Guerlaine Bingwa at the City of Canning on 1300 422 664.

The consultation period will close 11 May 2018
