Local Laws Review - Have your say
Consultation has concluded
The City is on a continuing journey to make Canning a welcoming and thriving City. To do this, the City needs to have a balance of local laws that keep people safe but also are not unnecessarily restrictive. The City proposes to review its local laws to;
- Remove unnecessary regulation;
- Enable improved interpretation and understanding of the laws;
- Remove inconsistencies or duplication across statutes; and
- Streamline administrative processes.
The review includes the following local laws:
- City of Canning Consolidated Local Laws 2000.
- City of Canning Control and Keeping of Cats Local Law 2007.
- City of Canning Health Local Laws 1998.
- City of Canning Parking Local Law 2010.
The City considers the review of its local laws as a high priority. Throughout the review processes the City will take into account, among other things:
- The requirements of the Local Government Act 1995 and other laws;
- Internal and external consultation; and
- What the Department of Local Government and the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation will consider when scrutinising the City’s proposed local laws.
