Help to shape the future of the City of Canning

Notice is hereby given that the City of Canning is proposing to amend Local Planning Scheme No. 42 – this is known as Scheme Amendment No. 13.

Scheme Amendment No. 13 is a standard amendment that proposes modify an existing Additional Use (A13) within LPS 42 to include No.23 Mills Street, Cannington. Currently, Additional Use A13 exclusively covers 25 Mills Street, Cannington. This change would allow the City to consider a 'Medical Centre' land use over the subject property ( 23 Mills Street) as well.

A ‘Medical Centre’ land use is a prohibited ‘X’ use in the Residential Zone, however a ‘Medical Centre’ has operated from 25 Mills Street since 1993. The primary purpose of the amendment is to leverage the announced state and federal investment of $150 million into developing an elective surgical hub at Bentley Hospital. This will increase demand for out-patient care and referrals.

On 18 April 2023, Council considered a report on the Scheme Amendment, and resolved to Initiate the proposal for public consultation (Council Decision CD-004-23).

This proposal is being advertised for public comment in accordance with the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.

You are invited to share your thoughts on this proposal.
