Draft Local Planning Policies for LPS 42
Consultation has concluded
The City of Canning has adopted the new Local Planning Scheme No 42 (LPS 42) which is currently with the Western Australian Planning Commission for consideration. To support the Scheme, the City's local planning policies have been reviewed and updated. The changes are mostly minor in nature. Policies were endorsed by Council at its meeting on 25 June 2019 for the purpose of initiating public advertisement. The current local planning policies under Town Planning Scheme No 40 (TPS 40) are available here.
The following policy is completely new under Local Planning Scheme No. 42:
- Draft LP. 08 - Cash in Lieu for Parking in the Centre Zone (187 KB) (pdf) - provides guidance for cash-in-lieu contributions for on-site car parking spaces and the use of the funds collected via these contributions in the Centre Zone - (View the Council report and frequently asked questions for more information)

The following policies (under TPS 40) will not be carried forward when Local Planning Scheme No 42 comes into effect.
- SRS221 TPS - Town Planning Schemes Landscape Plan (sufficiently covered by LPS 42, Regulations 2015 and information retained an assessment sheet and conditions can be applied on a case by case basis)
- SRS233 - Sea Containers in Residential Areas (now combined with outbuildings provisions in LP.12)
- SRS228 TPS - Satellite Dishes and Microwave Antennae in Residential Areas (LPS 42, Regulations 2015 and local planning policy LP.04 Exemptions from Development Approval provide enough guidance)
- SRS 242 – Westfield Local Development Plan (will be adopted as a Local Development Plan)
Policies to support Local Planning Scheme No 42 will only come into effect after the Scheme is gazetted and a notice is published in the local paper.
