Consultation has concluded
The City is seeking public comment in relation to the Draft Local Biodiversity Strategy: The draft strategy outlines a 20 year action plan for the protection and strategic management of natural areas in the City. Actions include:
Improved provisions for biodiversity in the City’s local planning framework and their application in future land use decisions.
Development of a Strategic Local Reserve Management Plan.
Development of a plan for restoration of natural areas in the City.
Development of an incentive package to encourage vegetation retention and increased use of local plants in landscaping by developers and private landholders.
Continued support to community volunteers engaged in bushland restoration activities.
Mainstreaming consideration of biodiversity within all City Programs and adopting a communication strategy that engages all government and community stakeholders.
Alternatively you can view a hard copy of the Draft Local Biodiversity Strategy at the City’s Administration Centre, 1317 Albany Highway Cannington or your local library, during normal operating times.
Any comments with respect to the draft strategy should be made in writing. Comments can be submitted via here or by email to customer@canning.wa.gov.au or by post to the City of Canning, Locked Bag 80, Welshpool, WA 6986.
The comment period closes 5:00pm Friday 2 February 2018.
