Help to shape the future of the City of Canning.

The City has received the above mentioned development application for a new Childcare Premises spanning across three (3) lots at 2, 4 and 6 Manus Place, Parkwood. The application is briefly outlined below:

  • The Demolition of the existing development,
  • The construction of a two storey Childcare Premises (for up to 111 children and 20 staff), with the outdoor play areas concentrated within the street setbacks areas along Willeri Drive and Manus Place.
  • An undercover car park which provides thirty-two (32) car parking bays with access off Ropele Drive to operate in an entry only format and a second crossover on Manus Place proposed in an exit-only format, and
  • To operate 6:30am - 6:30pm Monday to Friday.

The subject site is zoned “Residential” under the City of Canning Local Planning Scheme No. 42 (LPS42). The proposed Childcare Premises land use is an “A” use in the Residential zone, which means the use is not permitted unless the City has exercised its discretion by granting development (planning) approval after giving note to affected properties.

Prior to making a decision on the application, adjoining affected owners are invited to view the development plans and supporting reports (as applicable), and make comment on the planning matters that affect their property. The application has been lodged through the “Development Assessment Panel” (DAP) pathway which means the City will prepare recommendations on the proposal for consideration. For further information on this matter, please review the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage’s (DPLH) website: https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/department-of-planning-lands-and-heritage/development-assessment-panels

Please note that the City will endeavour to advise any tenants at this property of the above proposal; however, it may not always possible for us to contact them. This may be due to the site not having a physical post box or there being more than one tenant on the property. As the owner of the property the onus is on you to pass on this information to your tenants if it is likely that they will be impacted by the proposal.
