Background:
The Disability Services Act 1993 requires all local governments to develop a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP). DAIPs assist public authorities to plan and implement improvements to access and inclusion across seven outcome areas, in regards to services and events, buildings and facilities, information, quality of service, complaints, consultation processes and employment. These plans have a strong focus on addressing barriers faced by people with disability, with additional benefits for older persons, parents, youth and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
DAIPs are to be reviewed by Local Government Authorities at least every five year's.
Survey objectives:
We are looking to identify areas of improvement for our current strategies and to capture your business unit access and inclusion priorities. This feedback will be reviewed and considered for the updated version of the DAIP (2022-2027) which will guide the City for the next five years.

What's next?
Survey feedback will be collated, reviewed and shared with the City's Executive Team (ET) who shall be responsible for setting the DAIP priorities.
A daft copy of the DAIP will be available early June for your business unit to review.
When reviewed and compliance checked with Department of Communities the DAIP will be on the agenda of the July Ordinary Council Meeting (OCM) for approval.
