We are pleased to showcase Plan E's vision for the Civic Garden's Master Plan. The Plan was created as a result of your valued feedback gathered in 2018, both online and at workshops at the former Cannington Bowling Club site.
The formal space will incorporate a plaza, water feature, sensory and native gardens, parkland play, communal turf space, an iconic arbor structure for community events and gatherings, and much more.

We are pleased to showcase Plan E's vision for the Civic Garden's Master Plan. The Plan was created as a result of your valued feedback gathered in 2018, both online and at workshops at the former Cannington Bowling Club site.

Please use the "Ideas" section below to provide your feedback. You can see the Plan in the "Document Library" section or by clicking here. These will be presented along with the Master Plan to Council in June. Opportunity for feedback closes at 4pm on Friday 3 May 2019.

The City of Canning invited you to help design the future of the former Cannington Bowling Club site.
Thank you to everyone who participated in person or online to provide feedback on the draft Master Plans.
The feedback received has been analysed with the City's recommendations for the final concept plan now sent to Plan E Landscape Architects.

Consultation period [concluded]:
This project was open for feedback both in person and online until 4pm Monday the 8th of October.
We invited the community to attend one of two workshops listed below or to complete an online survey reviewing the three draft concept plans.
Feedback from the community will now be analysed to inform one final Master Plan for the area.
The community was asked feedback on three draft Master Plan options, which are contained in the following documents:

The City hosted two sessions for the community to review three draft Master Plan options for the site. These concept plans were created by Plan E and have been informed by previous community consultation.
We invited you to come along to have a coffee & chat (one coffee per person).
We asked you to review and make comments on the plans and discuss ideas for the site.
The feedback from these sessions will inform one final Master Plan creation.

Project details:
This site is the former home of the Cannington Bowling Club and offers an exciting opportunity for the City and the Community to co-create a space that is beautiful, functional and innovative!
The City engaged Plan E landscape architects to create three draft concept plans for the area. Plan E have been involved in a wide range of Local Government projects and have recently worked with the City on the Canning War Memorial and Queens Park Streetscape.
The City is seeking community comment on the three concept plans through various methods (surveys, coffee & chat events etc.).
About the site:
- Lots 7, 8 & 9 George Street West, Cannington (8,134sqm)
- Area bounded by Albany Highway, George Street West, Fleming Avenue and Civic Gardens Road.
- Cannington War Memorial and Civic Stage launched November 2015
- Area has split zoning (see below); Local Parks and Recreation (green) and Civic & Cultural (orange)
About the history:
- Cannington Bowling Club constructed 1960's
- Cannington Bowling Club extended 1970's
- Council decision to terminate the lease and demolish the bowling club made March 2017
- Cannington Bowling Club lease terminated June 2017
- Cannington Bowling Club demolished November 2017
About the possibilities:
- Create a space that looks like a park but functions as MUCH more than a park
- Space to be easy to use and access for community events
- Space to retain all of the natural environment that currently exists
- Space to have consideration for underground services that currently exist (sewer, retic etc.)
About the previous community feedback received:
- Consideration for traffic and parking
- Various amenities (BBQ, toilets, community space)
- Pop-up commercial space prospects
- Activation for markets and events
- Lots of passive space (parkland, trees)
- Protect the current natural environment
Long Term Use Suggestions:
- Community garden (good existing soil)
- Farmers' market/night markets
- Food trucks/pop-up food stalls (coffee, lunches, ethnic variety)
- Parkland in the short term with small trees
- Outdoor cinema/theatre in summer
- Adventure playground
- Play equipment for older children/adults (e.g. adventure park, ninja warrior)
Short Term Use Suggestions:
- More developed parkland in the long term with large trees
- BBQs
- Community Centre
- Adventure playground
- Men's Shed
- Community garden
- Adult Learning Centre
- Additional parkland/wetland for native animals
- Senior Citizens facility
- Play equipment for older children/adults
All previous suggestions and comments from past consultations will be considered in the development of this Master Plan.
